Pinterest

Pinterest is one of my newest thing I do online.  Its a place to find and collect pictures, ideas, recipes and so much more and sort them into categories or boards as they are called on pinterest.  Some of my boards are: ladybugs, diy, just because I like it, ideas for my sewing room.  And I can add anything to each of these and other boards I have, I can pin things from the pinterest site, I can pin things from my shop, or blog, or anyplace on the internet.  Here is a link to my boards on pinterest.   I have also created a board for the Artfire California crafters guild which I am a member of.  All of the items in that board are made here in California.
Yes, you do need an invite, but that's easy enough, you can request one through pinterest, I've heard that may take 2 or 3 days but I'm not sure about that.  Or you can ask a pinterest member for an invite, all you need is a email address and you get them to send you an invite and you get in that way pretty quick.  When I got mine, my daughter sent me an invite and I was in that day.
So here is an example of something I found on pinterest that I did.
It sure is colorful and tasty.  Here is my version.
This is before frosting.  I made a luscious lemon frosting to put on it.  We take off slices and spread it with the lemon frosting and it is really good.  There are a couple things I would do different if I made them again, but I think I would make it again.  Enjoy your day, Kathi

Large Tote Bag with Accessory bags ...

... This is a custom order for my daughter that just graduated nursing school.  She said she needed a large tote, something that will fit all the things she needs to take with her when she starts her first job as an RN.  She likes to take her lunch with her, so I am making a couple of zipper bags lined with ripstop nylon that she can use to carry healthy snacks, make up or whatever she finds a use for.  I had her go pick her lining fabric and she choose this Round About fabric from the Feelin Groovy line by Michael Miller and I already had this lovely gray ultra suede that she picked for the exterior of the bag.  I have added a front pocket with a magnetic closure for things that she needs quick access to, I added 2 good sized slip pockets inside and 1 large zipper pocket to keep thing a little more secure.  She wanted it to have 2 straps that are short enough so that she can carry it without dragging it but long enough to carry on her shoulder if she chooses to. I was running very low on the gray ultra suede for the bag so I pieced what I had together with that cool print I used for the lining and I think the straps came out looking great.  Sometimes little goofs can be made and the adjustments make the bag even better and more unique.  I am still working on finishing this bag, but I think I will be able to have it finished this weekend.  Here are some pictures of the bag up to this point.  I have one of the accessory bags finished, I used some heart fabric that I had made my daughter a scrub top a while back with and I will make another one from the tote lining.

Well, I'm off to go finish this bag.

Here is the finished X large tote bag I made for my daughter.  It really came out nice.

Have a great day,   Kathi
