Going Handmade Shopping Online ...

... how about you.  I need to do some Christmas shopping. I will buy at least one gift at artfire and at least one at ebay.  Last year at this time I hadn't even been to ebay except a couple times and I would go there and get freaked out and leave, because I wasn't sure how it worked and how safe could it be.  I now know why people love it.   As long as you do your research and check on the sellers feedback you will do fine most of the time.  I listed a few purses on ebay this week they are ending tomorrow.

okay they ended on ebay today and they didn't sell.  Oh well, my time will come.  I know it.

Thanksgiving Redo

Today were having Thanksgiving Redo.  My hubby was sick on Thanksgiving and my son and his wife couldn't come on Thanksgiving.  So were doing the whole thing again today.  Tomorrow I'm not cooking and only cleaning what has to be done.  I'm so tired of it.  But tomorrow is another day and no matter what I'M SEWING.  Got to go, time to put rolls in the oven.
stuffed acorn squash recipe   I'm trying this recipe tonight and because there are 2 vegetarians in the family I switched the chicken broth with vegetable broth.  I'll write here if we liked it or not.

Time for a new bag

I need to do some sewing.  I have so many ideas running through my head.  I have a idea for something related to Christmas I think that what I'll start with.  I guess I have committed to doing some sewing today. yes I have.
I have been working on hang tags for my purses.
this is what I have come up with so far.

Of course the satin ribbon will be what ever color I happen to have at that time.I kind of like this one.  I'll have to look at it for a few days to be sure I like it enough to put them on my purses.

Pumpkin Pie And Other Goodies

It is the day before Thanksgiving and for me that means PUMPKIN PIES.  I usually make at least 4, and that holds true today.  I am making 4 Pumpkin Pies, an Apple Pie (I will go to allrecipes to find a good recipe) and homemade dinner rolls.  Oh yea, cornbread for the stuffing.  I sure will be busy today.  I will post pics later today, so come back if you want to see how it came out.

Here is a picture of my Christmas cactus.  Beautiful.

Quiet morning

I havn't been able to do any sewing lately, and I have one project I need to work on, its a surprise for my hubby I'll show pics of it once I get started on it.  Got my Christmas village set up Friday night it came out ok but I will probably tweak it a bit over the next week or so.  I love having my village up, its my thing and it always gets me in the spirit.

It kinda looks like its in the clouds.  I had a great weekend with all my family.  We make Swedish sausage for our Christmas eve dinner each year.  And its turned into one of my favorite parts.
I love this bag.  I call it my hydrangia bag its black with pink & blue hydrangiasits lined with black with pink polka dots.  Its very big and roomy and its a one of a kind.  The front flap was all hand beaded by me.  I made this bag from cotton fabric.  I like bags that can be tossed in the washer and dryer and you can have a clean bag again.

4 looks in 1 Apron

Here are the pics of moms apron.  This apron has 4 looks so you don't feel like your wearing the same one everyday.

These first two you wear it as a full apron and its reversable (first 2 looks).

These last 2 you wear it like a half apron and the part that hangs down you can use to wipe your hands.
Didn't it come out cute.

Good night.  21 days until I turn 50. thats it.

Discouraged

I started this blog to give me a place to jot down ideas show my work keep track of what purses I'm working on from shopping to creating, selling successes & failures.  In between this I have been trying to sell some jewelry I made about 5 years ago and odds and ends around the house.  Today I decided to list the bags that I've made and sold (you'll see the list to the right) I'm not counting a few other item I've sold and the jewelry I've made and sold.  Sewing is my passion and that is where I would like more success with selling them.  The ones I have sold have had great feedback.  Today I'm just feeling discouraged  I just can't figure out why I'm not selling more.  I'll shake this off but in the meantime LOOK OUT.  Maybe I'm concentrating to much on trying to sell other things and I should put my energy into my purses.  Well here are some of the bags I've sold so far.

Well, I have so much work to do so need to get off the computer NOW.

Ozzy Bell

Here is the daily view of the apron for mom.  Its coming along,  I'm happy with the bottom half the top part still needs a bit of tweaking.  Thats our cat Ozzy Bell looking out the back door.  Weve had her for about 6 or 7 years.  We got her from my grandpa just before he moved to Hawaii.  When we got Ozzy Bell her name was Ocean, My sons named her, Matt picked Ozzy (after Ozzy Osborne) Daniel picked Bell (because she wore a bell and tinker bell) and with that we have Ozzy Bell.

As you can see its a bit foggy this morning.  Mom, don't worry it will be ready for you here on sausage day.  Need to list some more jewelry, I have a couple of green Swarovski crystal beaded necklaces, they would look great together.  They look very festive.

Aren't they pretty.  Got a very busy day ahead.  Cleaning, shopping, organizing, and listing.

Apron Redo

I've decided that I need to redo the apron, its not looking the way I had hoped.  I've got some ideas of what I want to do.  I'm going to shorten (just a little) and round that pointy edge (don't like how that looks).  Oh, my new iron came yesterday yeaaaa.  I need to make sure it works today.  I got a great deal on it, and its brand new.  I bought a new Oreck iron.  I liked how the last one(thanks mom) worked so well, I had to get another one.

Hi Mom ...

Here is the progress of your apron I'm trying to decide  between these 2 options.
A ~ This one the two squares match, and the top piece folds down for contrast.

B ~ This one the two squares are opposite and the folded over piece matches the bottom.

I hope you like how its coming out.  Remember it will be reversible.  There will be light blue trim, and maybe a little yellow or pink trim, not sure about that yet.  I'm thinking that the side and neck straps will be the blue with little flowers fabric.
This apron is my moms birthday present (sorry its late mom).  I enjoy making gifts for my family.
I listed more jewelry in my artfire studio yesterday and hopefully I will be able to add a few more today.

ArtFire banner ?????

I've been working on my artfire banner for December. Unfortunatly I ended up with 4 and now I can't decide which one.

So, which do you like?
Ok, so I sold another pair of earrings.  I sold the pumpkin earrings.  YEAAA, finally.  I sold them on ebay.  I meant to list some purses on ebay on sunday and didn't get to it.  I'll make sure to get some purses prept to be listed this coming sunday.  I like to list on sunday because the closer to the end of the auction the more often it gets shown on the front pages that come up. so what that means is that it ends on sunday and I'm assuming that more people look on the weekend so more people will end up getting to see my work.  At least thats what I think. blah blah blah.
Well, 11 days till sausage stuffing day.  I think I am going to get all the things done that I had hoped.  I shampooed the carpet over the weekend, and that was the biggee I had on my list.  I've been rearranging my living room and dining room, and I'm kinda liking how I have it.  But after sausage day I have to move it again, because I want my Christmas tree next to the stairs and right now my couch is there.  I'm so looking forward to everyone coming.  The only thing that I am dreading is my dog.  When we have people over she turns into one of those yippee dogs.  You know the kind that wont shut up.  Oh well, what can I say about that, it is what it is. Well, I have to go and get to work, you know  sweeping, mopping, and washing windows.  I'm tired already.
Please don't forget, help me pick my December artfire banner, leave a comment with your choice.  Go check out my artfire studio, I have many things that would make great gifts.  www.artfire.com/users/kathisewnsew

I have moved my computer to a spot where when I look up from my moniter I have a large window.  I really like that I moved it here. I was concerned that the morning rising sun would bother me, but it doesn't.  Its a rainy morning, I love rainy days at home.  Feels like a soup day.

This is the sewing machine that I make all my purses and other sewn items.  It is a 1951 Singer, its one of there century anniversary machines.  They don't make them to last like they used too.  It still sews beautifully, nice even stitches.  I love this machine.  I am going to start sewing moms apron, should have some pics of it up tomorrow.
17 days till sausage day.
